Hi,
I've got a problem. I first did my right little toe in about three/four years ago. I was walking across the floor of my house. I had just gotten out of the shower and was going to put some clothes on. I stubbed the toe on the corner of a dresser I had at the time and for a second it didn't hurt. All I new was that my toe was at a weird angle. The next thing I new, my toe hurt so bad I was laying on my bed holding it and sobbbing. Every few minutes, it would throb very painfully and I had to grit my teeth to keep from screaming. I called my mom, who took me to the ergent care. They did some tests on my toe including X-Raying it. It was determined that it was either badly sprained, or fractured and I had to wear tape on it. It eventually healed and was ok, but every once in awhile it would feel weird, like someone had a light grip on it, where there was just pressure, but it didn't hurt.
A few months ago, I was chasing my cat and I sort of tripped, or I stubbed my right little toe on the coutch leg, I don't remember which. The same thing happened. I felt it bend funny and the next thing I new, I was on the floor holding it. It seemed to sort of heal after a few days, but then it felt like someone was holding it with a firm grip. I went to the doctor here in MN and they said it was probably because of the swelling that had occured why my toe felt like someone had a hold of it. I kept some tape on it for a few days and this seemed to help it. They said that if I still felt the feeling after a week or so, to come back, but it had pretty much faded. The last few days though, it had been feeling weird again. I was bending down to pick up a piece of popcorn off the floor that had dropped and my fiance was standing right in front of me when I stood up. I moved my foot to go around him and I somehow stubbed that same toe on his foot. It felt funny and a second later, I was yelling ouuuu!!!!! I don't know what to do. When I was at the doctor last for this toe a few months ago, they said they couldn't do anything for my toe even if it was broken. They didn't take any X-rays or anything. But what if it keeps doing this every few months, what am I supposed to do about it? I've never had this problem with any other toe, or bone in my body at all. I really don't want to have to deal with this thing being weak for the rest of my life and every time I stub it on something, worry about it being sprained or broken. Plus, when it does get hurt, then I have to practically lay around for a week or so, until it's bearable to do much with again. Thoughts?
Thanks,
Dawnielle

ever get an answer to this? I was just thinking not sure whether you can do anything medically for that but I guess you could get yourself a pair of crutches, as at least you could move around etc then. I ended up doing that myself a while ago for my weak ankles that kept buckling.

cut it off? seriously I did that same thing on a door jam and it took a month for it to heel. may be the first time you hurt it, you started walking to soon? its like ribs, they can only do so much. its that old saying if you hurt a finger or a toe, it always seems like you keep banging it on something. good luck

Speaking of ribs, from your descriptions, it sounds like I had the same thing with one of my ribs.s.. way way back when I was 11 I was doing something in gym class (can't remember exactly waht now) but I ended up hurting one of my ribs really badly, all I knew is that it felt like it made a crack then it was horrendously painful for awhile... Well, basically, for the next 5 - 6 years, every once in awhile, I'd feel that rib crackle or something, (if I stretched the wrong way or it got pressed hard), and randomly it would have this really odd feeling of uncomfortable pressure and aching. The doctors just shrugged their shoulders at me pretty much, because, like they say about toes, there's not much they can do about it, whatever the problem is.

Now, 9 years later, I still get that feeling of pressure and aching once in awhile, but it's a hell of a lot more infrequent and less severe, and it's not as easily bothered to begin with... so I expect that it will just keep fading.

I'm sure this doesn't look like a good future for your toe, if it's a similar situation, but it's all I really have to offer.

Hope there's something that can be done for your toe.

atleast I know I am not the only toe sprangger in house. I can have a long conversation about the many ways I have done both little toes and how bad they throb.
